Vibha, such small words with such a large meaning. Vibha is a non-profit organization that helps underprivileged children get the education they need. Vibha recently had a global conference, also known as VOLCON 2017. I met some incredible people there such as, the Chief
Operating Officer of Vibha, Mr. Kannan Udayarajan, and Dar Vanderbeck, the Chief Innovative Officer of CARE. For those of you who do not know the CARE organization, it is also a non-profit organization. Volunteers from CARE go around the world helping uncivilized cities
and countries. According to Mr. Kannan Udayarajan, “This is the only forum at which we get to see the entire Vibha leadership, volunteers and supporters from across the nation under the same roof.” Every year there are new volunteers that join Vibha. When this meeting is held, the Vibha volunteers all get very excited to follow up on everything Vibha is doing and the progress we are making. This meeting gives so much information on what is going on in the world and how much children are suffering in the world. As said, I decided to see Mr. Udayarajan’s point of view of a perfect world in two words, he said “Compassionate Citizens. This makes everything possible - peace, progress and happiness.” On the other hand, Ms. Vanderbeck described the perfect world in her two words, “Fluidity and passion.” These words would make such a difference in the world. Not only for kids who are suffering, but also for everyone in the world who have the basic needs in life. From the beginning Vibha has helped over 300,000 children get the education they need. Mr Udayarajan stated, “Vibha, since inception 26 years ago, has supported over 250 ideas that have gone to positively impact close to half a million children.” Vibha volunteers stay positive with their motto, “Educate, Empower, Enable!”. The main goal for Vibha is simple. According to Mr. Udayarajan, “Our goal is a world which does not need an organization like Vibha.” Mr. Kannan told me that Vibha still has a very long way to go before this organization goes out of business, so while this organization is still in operation we will give as much education to children as we can! Vibha is not only trying to give education to children but also healthcare opportunities in poor villages and kids in cities who cannot afford school or cannot afford proper healthcare. Since 26 years ago, Vibha has done so much for people not only in India, but around the world! Let us make a brighter future for children together!
Vibha Youth chapters have been formed to provide school-going kids an opportunity to initiate change regarding an important social issue. In conjunction with their parents and other Vibha action center adult members, they participate in all stages from planning to implementation of events like bake-sale fundraisers and game days. Some currently active youth chapters are located in Bay Area, Dallas, New Jersey and Raleigh.
