The Vibha New York - New Jersey chapter hosted a successful Game Day fundraising event on June 3rd which served to effectively mobilize volunteers in the area. Led by Dimple Kapoor and around 30 other dedicated volunteers, the event was also a delightful way for visitors to spend time with their families. Among other goods and services, the volunteers offered noodles, samosas, desserts, books, mehendi, and face painting. Visitors also took pleasure in playing family-friendly outdoor games, winning prizes, and taking pictures in the photo booth. All of these enticing aspects helped spread awareness of Vibha in the area in an enjoyable manner.
While Vibha Atlanta has various fundraisers planned year-round, this year, the Action Center came up with a singular concept-Vibe. Vibe was a cultural fundraising event that involved the local leaders, with an intent to create more visibility for Vibha and having the patrons form a personal connection with the cause and celebrate the joy of giving with their family and friends.
In Sanskrit, the word Kalakaar means “Artist.” Kalakaar is the annual international photography competition that is held for all ages. It is a free contest that offers many exciting prizes for winners. The main objective of the Kalakaar competition it to create an opportunity for kids to express creativity and help spread awareness about Vibha and help children in need.
The Dream Mile 2016, Vibha’s flagship fundraising event in Atlanta – was a huge success with more than 2300 participating and raising close to $240,000 towards the cause of uplifting underprivileged children in India. An atmosphere of zest and fervor filled the air at The Collection Mall at Forsyth, Cumming, Atlanta on September 17, 2016, as seasoned runners and casual walkers from a wide variety of backgrounds and age groups came early in the morning to make a statement of solidarity with the cause. After a quick warm up session, the excitement reached its peak when the 10K Run, 5K Run and the 5K Walk were flagged off promptly by the sponsors Srinivas Nimmagadda of Vensai Technologies, Latha Ganesan of Datum Software, and Namitha Tirath of Pyramid Consulting. When the participants sprinted down the course, it was a sight to behold for everyone present and especially for volunteers who had spent several months planning this event!
Leading community organizations Vibha , GAMA (Greater Atlanta Malayalee Association) and the Fulton Science Academy set another bar for community partnership by jointly hosting ‘Are you ready for college?’, a half day seminar and panel discussion on college readiness. The event, held on August 20th at the Fulton Science Academy packed a full house of more than 350, not counting the several others who attended the event via Facebook Live from all around the globe. The event featured a stellar panel of 12 outstanding High School students who had gained admissions to several Ivy and other top of the league Universities
