Volunteer Spotlight: Ranjeeta Singh

by Shivani Patel
Volunteer Spotlight: Ranjeeta Singh

When asked how Vibha has impacted her life, Ranjeeta gave us a beautiful answer: “You feel as if you are meeting a certain purpose in life and it really allows you to think beyond the day-to-day and do more for the society and there is no better way to support something than like this.” She says that at the end of the day, we personally get more out of it and is overall a larger learning experience for us as volunteers.

Ranjeeta has been a part of Vibha for the past 3 years.  She was introduced to Vibha by a close friend who had been donating to Vibha for 10-15 years. While settled in New Jersey, Ranjeeta had the opportunity to go to the New Jersey/New York National Vibha Conference with her friend and was absolutely astounded by the organization. Ever since then, Ranjeeta has attended three National Conferences, in New York/New Jersey, California, and Atlanta, and two events. She helped put together her first Diwali event in the New York/New Jersey area as an attempt to revamp that action center. She said it was an amazing opportunity where volunteers, old and new, were able to connect, share ideas, and revise activities for the action center. They had been dormant for a while now so this event helped get things started again. At the local level, she helps with organizing events for the New York/New Jersey action center and bringing more volunteers together to work towards the same cause. Ranjeeta’s key goal at the national level of her position is to raise brand awareness and get more volunteers from across the country working towards the same cause.

When asked what others would say about her work with Vibha, she said that people find her very passionate about her work, the cause, and the overall mission of the organization. The greatest impact on her life that Vibha has made has been on the personal front. She has made so many close friendships that she believes are truly life-long relationships. The fact that they all are working towards the same cause helps them bond even more. Another instance in which Ranjeeta knew how important Vibha is to her life is when she visited one of the projects she supports a couple years ago. She visited the Child’s Toy Foundation in Mumbai, whom she frequently helped out. She said it really helped her realize where funds go and how we impact the children and it allowed her to hear from the students and teachers who are impacted by the support. She said it was truly a rewarding experience.

“Vibha is all about trust and transparency … that is what defines Vibha and how it stands out from other organizations that support similar causes,” said Ranjeeta. It is virtually almost 100% volunteer-driven, so there is no minimal overhead cost. Therefore, a majority of the money goes to actual projects that we support. Vibha is what we call a “Social Venture Catalyst.” We uphold our values by creating ideas, getting people involved in these ideas, and implementing them into the lives of underprivileged children via minimal external intervention but making sure we hit maximal impact and efficacy.
